This is one of the best kept secrets in Houston. Run don’t walk and make an appointment – They did such a phenomenal job with my cut & color – I look 100 times better than when I walked in.

I needed a new stylist since moving here from san fran. Keep in mind, i’ve been going to the same person that did my hair for years in Ca. So trying a new stylist is scary for me! I went in to get a manicure and pedicure done first (so i can scope out the place) and while getting my manicure i was checking out the stylists there. there was a girl cutting hair and notice she was doing a very cute,trendy style! So after i left i book with her! When i came in for my appointment, my stylist Sunny greet me and was very nice. She listened to my problemed hair and suggested a different look. So, i thought well,lets try it and see. well, it turned out really cute! I love my cut!! its been 5 weeks and my cut still styles nicely! I have a color appointment with her in 4 weeks and i can’t wait! I found my TX stylist now! yay!
I came here specifically to try the OPI Axxium Gel manicure.
I am happy with the results and have been back a few times. The staff here is very friendly and I have been very happy with the manicures and pedicures that I have received here.
Chantil simply gives an awesome haircut. She is attentive to detail, never rushes, remembers likes/dislikes, and is very friendly and easy-going. Highly recommend Chantil at Midtown Retreat.

You may not think my review applies to you since I get perms, but if you are looking for a hair salon with people that listen to what you want and care about how you look and feel after walking out the door, look no further.
Finding someone not just willing but eager to do a perm these days is rare. My stylist, Tee, was surprised and excited to do one. She loves her job, put simply. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and offered a choice of beverage. The man that shampooed my hair was friendly. This salon has the most comfortable sinks!
Once I met Tee, I explained to her that I suffer from Trichotillomania (Google it, if you care). She was the first stylist I have ever come across to know what that was, and she smiled and offered product tips on how to manage the problem. I was so relieved! I just couldn’t believe it. While she was rolling my hair, if she noticed any strands that weren’t perfectly straight, she would re-roll. She was also using mesh paper instead of wax, which is gentler on the hair and holds onto it more tightly. Once she was done rolling, she carefully checked each roller to make sure none of them had popped. After my second rinse, she massaged my neck, free of charge. My shirt had gotten wet, and even though it was after hours, she took the time to blow-dry it. What ultimately impressed me was that she didn’t rush so she could go home. She had fun with it, made it wild, just like I like it. Toward the end, she said, “We will start a perm revolution!” Haha! I’m not sure that will happen, but I was happy to give her inspiration!
If I had to give any criticism for the business, it would be to change the music. It’s a little too salon-y, and it doesn’t match the modern look of the place.

I just received Bio Ionic straightening from Midtown Retreat and was a big fan of the results. I was hesitant to try a new place for hair straightening since it is so easy to damage hair but they did a great job. They were extremely meticulous with the process and the results are amazing. I have extremely thick hair and recommend this treatment to anyone that wants more manageable hair during the summer!
