Taking Care of your eyelash extensions
Avoid water on lashes for at least 48 hours after application. Although, you can choose to apply mascara on your eyelash extensions, we recommend using water-based mascara.  You should not use heated eyelash curlers on the extensions.  Using creams and oil-based cleansers can loosen the bonds of the eyelash extensions.  Be gentle with the eyelashes after an application session and refrain from rubbing your eyes.  Take care of your eyelash extensions by washing your eyes gently and patting the lashes dry, then gently using the complimentary lash brush on lashes daily to avoid lash shifting.

Eyelash Extensions FAQs

Below are frequently asked questions and answers about eyelash extensions.

What are  eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent synthetic fibers used to create volume and extend the length of natural eyelashes. In other words, one single extension is placed on one natural eyelash. The result: you won’t believe your eyes! You will have instant volume along with long, luscious lashes. Best of all, our lashes have been specially designed to look completely natural; no one will suspect they’re not yours!

What are  our  eyelash extensions made of?

Our eyelash extensions are made of premium synthetic materials. They are nylon based with an organic silk core. We also use hypoallergenic, cruelty free and machine cut genuine mink lashes. The shine and shape will not be affected by water, heat, steam or sweat and will keep up with your busy schedule.

Is the adhesive safe?

Yes. Our adhesives are medical-grade, designed and produced at an FDA certified facility. Our adhesives have maximum bonding strength with high flexibility and shine. The formulation contains pulverized rubber polymers to provide flexibility – an industry first. Our lash adhesives are the safest, most steril and highest performing adhesives available. You will not sense the adhesive during the appointment. Please let your stylist know during your consultation if you have an adhesive or latex allergy so that they may perform a patch test.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Semi-permanent extensions can last for as long as you maintain them. To maintain the look, re-lash appointments are necessary every 4 to 6 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed or outgrown naturally. Our adhesives are formulated to hold the lash in spite of water, heat, steam or sweat, and can keep up with your busy lifestyle.

Will I be able to sense I am wearing the  eyelash extensions?

No! Because the extensions are placed 1 millimeter away from the base of the natural eyelashes, you won’t be able to feel the extensions. Our lash extensions unique lightweight design ensures that your new extensions will feel like they are your natural eyelashes. The technique of our stylists and their ability to accurately attach a single lash extension to one natural lash ensures you will not feel them or any discomfort. Also, the adhesive is so flexible that the lashes move with your natural lashes, even in a wind gust.

Can I apply  eyelash extensions to my own lashes?

No! Only a trained and certified professional will be able to safely apply The Lashe® extensions. Eye injury or clumpy, unnatural looking lashes are likely to result from unprofessional or self-application. The Lashe® Certified Stylists have gone through rigorous hands-on training in advanced application and design techniques, and can create an intricate look tailored to your features. Our clients love the unique looks we create for them, and some exclaim we are an eyelift without the scalpel!

Can I swim, spa or have a facial service while wearing extensions?

Yes! The lash  extensions application can keep up with your busy lifestyle. Our clients love how our extensions last and last, even when worn on vacation, skiing, swimming, snorkeling, and sunning all day! We recommend that you wait 24 to 48 hours before visiting the spa, tan, or spray tan to allow adequate adhesive bonding. After that, resume your regular schedule.

Can I wear mascara with the  eyelash extensions?

Yes! Although the extensions give the appearance of wearing mascara, some women choose to wear mascara. We only recommend using The Lashe® Mascara, which has been specially formulated for lash extensions. Other mascaras will cause premature shedding. If you choose to wear mascara, apply sparingly and only on tips; never apply from base to tip.

Do the eyelash extensions harm my natural lashes?

No! Since the extensions are applied to your natural lashes away from the base, never touching the skin, the growth cycle of the natural lash is not affected. We only use 0.15mm thick extensions to be applied on natural lashes. We do not use thick or polyester based lashes that can harm your lashes. The accuracy in application at our salon is also key to maintaining the health of your natural lashes, and of paramount importance to us.

When am I not a good candidate for eyelash extensions?

You must have some natural eyelashes for this procedure. Extensions should not be applied on individuals, who have recently completed or are undergoing chemotherapy, have alopecia, or who suffer from trichotillomania or trichosis. If you have any eye condition where the eye does not look healthy or have an adhesive or latex allergy, you are probably not a candidate for eyelash extensions. Consult with your ophthalmologist for a recommendation or stop in for a consultation.

How long does the  eyelash extension application take?

Depending on the skill level of the stylist, a The Lashe®-Certified Stylist will take between 2 to 2.5 hours to apply a full set of extensions, depending on the type of lash extension used – synthetic or genuine mink. Genuine Mink application can take 30 to 60 minutes longer than the 2 hour application, as the extensions are more delicate.

How many eyelash extensions are in a  full set?

Here is where the real difference is! Depending on how many natural lashes you have, on average our  full set application consists of between 120 to 150 extensions placed on each eye. The results are astonishing!

Is the eyelash extension application comfortable?

Yes! It is such a comfortable process that most of our clients are so relaxed that they fall asleep. During the application, you are reclined on a massage bed with specialty leg and neck pillows with the eyes closed. It is the same as going for a facial.

Are there differences between your eyelash extensions and other products available?

Yes! The three main differences are how natural the extensions look, how long the extensions last and how they affect your natural eyelashes. Our products are bar none the most sterile, safest and highest performing eyelash extension products on the market.

False eyelash strips are the oldest and probably most well known product. They involve using a gummy adhesive that touches the skin, and are the least natural looking. Lash strips only last a day and can come off or dislodge during the course of wear. Flares, clusters, and lash tabs are often misrepresented in the market as “individual” eyelash extensions. These products consist of between 3 to 8 lash bunches with a node or knot at the end. Application involves adhesive touching the skin or the node is adhered to multiple natural lash bases, which often damage the natural lashes.

Can I be on a lash growth program and still get Eyelash Extensions?

Yes, in fact many of our clients are on lash growing programs and these products do not harm the extensions. The more lashes one has the more extensions we can apply. The natural non-medication lash growing liquids are very difficult products to use, and to see results application must be done twice daily consistently for two months. They do work, but take time for results to appear and they do work within the confines of your natural lashes. The liquid must be precisely applied and evenly distributed, as it is possible to grow hair on undesirable places or create patches of thicker lashes. These serums can also be used on brows.

If you are using a lash growth program that is stronger in nature, such as Latisse, we recommend that you do not use the brushes that it comes with. Please use a liquid eyeliner brush and apply sparingly. Good news is that a one months supply is actually a 5-month supply when used this way and you will see the same results. Also, by using sparingly, the other side effect possibilities are significantly diminished.
